Allied Furnace: Installation code requirements
Installation code requirements on a Allied furnace: Local code comes first. Without it, the National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54) applies in the USA and CSA-B149 in Canada. These units are CSA certified to ANSI Z21.47 and CSA 2.3. Installation and service must be done by a licensed professional installer, service agency or gas supplier.
Applies to: All A95UH, A93UH, 95G1UH and 92G1UH installs
Common causes of installation code requirements
- New installation where the inspector wants code references
- Replacement furnace where the old code basis has changed
- Non-direct vent install needing combustion and ventilation air calculations
- Homeowner or unlicensed person attempting gas work
How to fix installation code requirements: step by step
- Confirm the local building code in force, because it overrides the manual where stricter.
- If there are no local codes, follow ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 (USA) or CSA-B149 (Canada).
- Provide combustion and ventilation air per the applicable code for non-direct vent installs, since an undersized space causes poor combustion.
- Use a licensed installer or gas supplier for the install and for any later gas service.
- Pull permits and arrange inspection where required.
- Keep the manual and rating plate information with the furnace for future service.
