Signs your AC needs service
- Air from the vents is barely cooler than the room
- Ice on the copper lines or the indoor coil
- The outdoor unit hums but the fan does not spin
- Water around the furnace from the AC drain
- The system runs all afternoon and never reaches the setting
Before you call
Check the furnace filter, make sure the outdoor disconnect and breaker are on, and set the thermostat to Cool a few degrees below room temperature.
If the coil is iced up, switch the AC off and run the fan only until it thaws. Running it frozen can damage the compressor.

How long does an AC installation take?
A straight replacement usually takes one day. If the coil or line set also needs replacing, it can run into a second morning.
Can you add refrigerant to my AC?
We can, but a system that is low on refrigerant has a leak. We find and repair the leak first so you are not paying for a top-up every summer.
Do you install heat pumps instead of AC?
Yes. A heat pump cools exactly like an AC and also heats in the shoulder seasons. It is worth asking about when you replace an air conditioner.
