Allied Furnace: Do not vent into an existing stack or use screens

Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

Do not vent into an existing stack or use screens on a Allied furnace: Exhaust must not discharge into a stack that serves another gas appliance. Screens or perforated metal in exhaust or intake terminations cause freeze-ups and can block them.

Applies to: Exhaust and intake terminations

How to fix do not vent into an existing stack or use screens: step by step

  1. If a vertical discharge through an unused stack is required, insert PVC pipe into the stack until its end is even with the top of the metal stack.
  2. Do not install screens or perforated metal on exhaust or intake terminations.
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
