How to use the Rheem Reduced clearance to combustibles (Fig. 3 and 4) table

Find your exact model in the first column and read across the row. Values in the Rheem Reduced clearance to combustibles (Fig. 3 and 4) table are a summary for quick reference; the rating plate on the unit and the manufacturer's manual for your model always decide. If your model is not listed, or a value looks different from what you see on the unit, check the manual before changing anything.

Notes

  • Note 2: right side may be 0 in. with type B vent.
  • Note 3: vent clearance may be 1 in. with type B vent.
  • Downflow on a combustible floor needs the combustible floor base unless the furnace sits on a coil box.
  • Do not install the upflow/horizontal furnace on its back with the access doors facing up.
  • Values are inches from the casing to combustible material.

Applies to: RGPE (upflow/horizontal) and RGLE (downflow) 2-stage 80% furnaces, 50,000-125,000 Btu/h (-05, -07, -10, -12)

Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
