Allied Furnace: Direct vent termination layout (roof and sidewall)
Direct vent termination layout (roof and sidewall) on a Allied furnace: Intake and exhaust must share the same pressure zone, and the two pipes should be as close together as possible at the termination.
Applies to: Direct vent terminations
How to fix direct vent termination layout (roof and sidewall): step by step
- Make sure intake and exhaust both exit through the roof or both through the side wall. Do not split them.
- Keep intake and exhaust on the same side of the structure.
- Keep the separation at the terminations to 3 in. (76 mm) maximum on roof terminations and 6 in. (152 mm) maximum on sidewall terminations.
- On a roof termination, turn the intake straight down using two 90 degree elbows.
- Run the exhaust straight out or straight up.
- Fit an exhaust reducer where the pipe exits the structure if needed to increase exhaust velocity away from the intake (see table 6).
- Route the piping to avoid recirculating exhaust back into the intake.
