Lennox Furnace: EL296UHV: what the display and the diagnostic button are telling you

Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

EL296UHV: what the display and the diagnostic button are telling you on a Lennox furnace: The furnace control has a seven-segment display and one push button. Normal operation, stored errors, flame current and the unit size are all read from it.

Applies to: EL296UHV(X) series

How to fix el296uhv: what the display and the diagnostic button are telling you: step by step

  1. Watch the display with the furnace idle: a blinking dot means idle. C, H, d, h or dF followed by a number means a call is running.
  2. To read stored errors, hold the button until E shows and release. The last 10 codes scroll. Choose c and press again while it flashes to clear them.
  3. To check the flame sensor, hold until F shows and release. Normal is 2.6 microamps or more. 2.5 or less is low. Drop out is 1.1.
  4. Hold until three bars show to go back to normal. Menus time out on their own.
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
