Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

Extended display mode on a Rheem furnace: Pressing the pushbutton while the control powers up switches the displays to extended mode, which changes what is shown during operation.

Applies to: (-)96VA040-115 (R96V / U96V) and (-)(-)96MDV040-115 two-stage variable-speed communicating furnaces

How to fix extended display mode: step by step

  1. Cut power to the furnace.
  2. Hold the pushbutton and restore power.
  3. Cycle power again to return to the normal display (the extended-mode table is not readable in the text copy of the manual; see printed p.96).
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
