Goodman Furnace: Standard furnace vent and intake connections

Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

Standard furnace vent and intake connections on a Goodman furnace: The vent outlet takes 2 in. pipe and is glued into the furnace fitting, or a short 2 in. section can be glued in with a rubber coupling for service removal. Route piping away from refrigerant lines, metering devices and condensate lines. Two 45-degree long-sweep elbows make an offset that counts as one 90-degree elbow.

How to fix standard furnace vent and intake connections: step by step

  1. Glue the vent pipe into the furnace fitting, or use a short glued section and rubber coupling.
  2. Route vent and intake pipe clear of refrigerant lines, metering devices and condensate drains.
  3. Use two 45-degree long-sweep elbows if extra clearance is needed; count as one 90-degree elbow.
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
