Goodman Furnace: Annual inspection checklist

Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

Annual inspection checklist on a Goodman furnace: The furnace should be inspected by a qualified installer or service agency at least once a year, at the start of the heating season. Check the flue, combustion air intake, heat exchanger, burners, drainage, wiring and filters.

Applies to: All 34.5in chassis gas furnaces

How to fix annual inspection checklist: step by step

  1. Check the flue pipe for blockage or leakage, including the outside termination and connections at the furnace.
  2. Check the combustion air intake pipe (where used) for blockage or leakage, including its termination and connection.
  3. Check the heat exchanger passages for corrosion or buildup.
  4. Check the burners for proper ignition, burner flame and flame sense.
  5. Check the drainage system and hose connections for blockage or leakage.
  6. Check electrical connections for tightness and corrosion, and check wires for damage.
  7. Check and replace the air filter.
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
