Thermostat mounting location on a Goodman furnace: Mount the thermostat about five feet off the floor on an inside wall, away from vibration and with good air circulation. Keep it away from drafts, registers, sun, lights, other appliances, fireplaces, hidden pipes or chimneys, and cold outside walls.

How to fix thermostat mounting location: step by step
- Pick an inside wall about five feet above the floor.
- Avoid drafts, dead spots, registers, sunlight and heat from fixtures or fireplaces.
- Avoid hidden water pipes, chimneys and unconditioned walls behind the thermostat.
- Follow the thermostat maker's mounting instructions.
