Applies to: 34.5 in chassis gas furnaces

Common causes of blower motor fails to start after 10 consecutive tries

  • Obstruction in the circulator blower housing, so the wheel can't turn
  • Seized circulator blower motor bearings, because a dry bearing locks up
  • Failed circulator blower motor

How to fix blower motor fails to start after 10 consecutive tries: step by step

  1. Turn power off before repair.
  2. Pull the blower and look in the housing for debris or anything jamming the wheel. Remove it.
  3. Spin the wheel and shaft by hand, since a tight or locked shaft means seized bearings.
  4. Replace the motor with the correct replacement part if it is seized or failed.
  5. Replace the wheel with the correct part if it is damaged or out of balance.
  6. Restore power and confirm the blower starts and runs smoothly.
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
