Common causes of forcing a defrost - trane 5twr7

  • Coil iced, need to verify defrost

How to fix forcing a defrost - trane 5twr7: step by step

  1. Unit must be running in heating with a thermostat call; forced defrost does not work in cooling.
  2. Hold the board's forced defrost button down for over 5 s.
  3. Display shows 7 as the first digit while defrosting.
  4. Normal demand defrost only arms when outdoor ambient is at or below 50 F and there has been a heat call for a set time.
  5. If defrost ends too early, clipping the defrost termination jumper raises the termination temperature.
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
