Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

Short, practical technician tips on commissioning for gas fireplace. Check each one against the manual for your exact model before acting.

Pair a new remote with the wall receiver

Lennox · Elite Linear View LDV42N, LDV42P, LDV54N, LDV54P (SIT Proflame DFC control, remote wall receiver)

The receiver learns a new remote by itself.

  1. Slide the wall receiver to REMOTE.
  2. Press ON/OFF on the hand remote.
  3. Three beeps = paired.

Millivolt: first lighting and gas purge

Majestic · 400DVBLN/PV7, 500DVBLN/PV7 (millivolt)

Commissioning sequence for a new millivolt unit.

  1. Open the main shutoff and purge the supply line through the inlet test point until gas arrives, then tighten it
  2. Soap-test the connection at the valve, the burner and the pilot
  3. Push in the knob, turn counterclockwise to PILOT, hold it and click the piezo until the pilot lights
  4. Hold a few seconds then release; repeat if the pilot drops
  5. Turn to ON with the burner switch on; main burner lights in under 4 seconds

Rock wool and first burn tips

Majestic · DVBL7 series

Getting a good flame picture on a new install.

  1. Pull rock wool into dime-size bits and lay a single layer on the burner
  2. Light for 15 minutes and check; flame blue and only in the center means more rock wool in the center
  3. Do not use the whole bag; too much causes sooting
  4. Burn the first 10 hours with the blower off and windows open for the burn-off smell

Test the optional thermostat blower

Majestic · 400DVBLN/PV7, 500DVBLN/PV7 (millivolt)

Quick check after installing the BLOTBLDV blower.

  1. Set the variable speed control to LOW
  2. Run the fireplace on high; blower should start within 10 minutes
  3. If it does not, shut down and let it cool, unplug the blower
  4. With a jeweler's screwdriver turn the white dial on the speed control 1/8 turn counterclockwise and retest
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
