KeepRite Heat Pump: Switch the post-defrost outdoor fan delay off or on

Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

Switch the post-defrost outdoor fan delay off or on on a KeepRite heat pump: Normally the outdoor fan stays off 20 seconds after defrost ends. Shorting the forced-defrost pins for more than 15 seconds while idle toggles this delay; it is kept through power loss.

How to fix switch the post-defrost outdoor fan delay off or on: step by step

  1. With the unit in standby (amber LED on solid), short the FORCED DEFROST pins for more than 15 seconds
  2. The LED starts flashing when toggled: 4 flashes = delay defeated, 3 flashes = 20 s delay active
  3. Remove the short; the code stays up until the short is removed and about 5 seconds after
  4. If you got the wrong state, repeat the toggle
Safety: Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a licensed technician. Turn off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and always follow the manufacturer's manual for your exact model.
