Gas Fireplace: Proflame (SIT DFC): fan, AUX outlet, split flow or OFF command not working
Proflame (SIT DFC): fan, AUX outlet, split flow or OFF command not working on a gas fireplace: Proflame GT system with Fan Control Module: fan or AUX outlet not responding, split-flow burner not switching, or the fireplace will not shut off from the remote.
Applies to: Fireplaces using the SIT Proflame GT / GTMF system
Common causes of proflame (sit dfc): fan, aux outlet, split flow or off command not working
- Transmitter not a GTMF/GTMFS model
- FCM not powered or switched on
- Fan/AUX device plugged into the wrong outlet or failed
- Pilot or DFC ground not connected to the chassis
- Failed FCM or split flow valve
- Remote not communicating
- Valve stuck open
How to fix proflame (sit dfc): fan, aux outlet, split flow or off command not working: step by step
- Fan: the transmitter must be a GTMF or GTMFS. Make sure the FCM is on AC power and switched on, and the fan is in the FCM outlet marked FAN. Plug the fan straight into 120 V: works = replace the FCM; does not work = replace the fan.
- Fan speed not following the remote: check the pilot ground wire to the chassis, then replace the FCM.
- AUX: FCM powered, device plugged in, DFC grounded to the chassis. Plug the device into 120 V directly: works = replace the FCM.
- Split flow: transmitter must have the split flow feature; check wiring, then replace the split flow valve.
- Receiver not responding: new receiver batteries; if it does not beep, replace the receiver. New transmitter batteries; if pressing ON/OFF does not make the receiver beep, move closer, resync, or use the correct transmitter type.
- Burner will not turn OFF: check communication, then unplug EV1 and EV2 at the valve. If the burner still burns, shut off the gas and replace the valve. Pilot staying on is normal in CPI mode; in IPI it should go out - otherwise unplug EV1 and if it still burns, replace the valve.
