Common causes of venturi / air shutter adjustment
- Air shutter not set for vent length/fuel/altitude
How to fix venturi / air shutter adjustment: step by step
- Loosen the securing screw and rotate the venturi to open or close.
- Closing gives a yellower flame but can cause carboning; opening gives a bluer flame but can lift flames off the ports.
- Wait 15-30 minutes for the final flame colour before judging.
- GD70: factory set for the longest horizontal run (20 ft); shorter runs need adjustment (propane can go as low as 1/4" open). Access by removing the two cover screws on the air housing without damaging the gasket. WARNING: qualified gas installer only.
