Three kinds of homes, three kinds of systems

Detached homes from the 1970s and 80s around Glen Shields: usually a gas furnace with central air, often on the third furnace by now. Ductwork from the original build is common, and it’s worth checking returns and dampers when the furnace is replaced.
Townhouses: many newer towns use a combi boiler or a water heater that feeds an air handler, instead of a regular furnace. When the heat stops, the problem can be on the water-heating side, so we check the whole system, not just the fan unit.
Condos: depending on the building, suites have fan coils, heat pumps or ductless units. Building rules matter here, so we confirm what’s allowed before quoting a replacement.

Water heaters

If your water heater is a rental, you can usually buy it out or replace it with an owned unit. For townhouses with a combi system, replacing the water heater or boiler affects your heat too, so it needs to be sized for both jobs.

Tip: in a townhouse with an air handler, a slow drop in heat or hot water often means the water heater or boiler needs flushing or descaling, not replacing.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a very positive experience with Ehsan from Aurora Star Tech. I hired him to perform maintenance and safety inspections on multiple gas furnaces and gas fireplaces, including some older and less common equipment.
Ehsan was thorough and spent considerable time on each unit rather than rushing through the job. He cleaned and tested the equipment, took operating measurements, and communicated with me frequently throughout the service. I especially appreciated that he explained what he was checking, shared his findings and readings with me, and showed me how some of the older fireplaces operate.
At the end of the visit, he completed an individual written maintenance and inspection report for each units, including key measurements and findings. I really value this kind of documentation for future maintenance.
Overall, I found Ehsan knowledgeable, patient, communicative and conscientious. He took the time to do the work properly and to help me understand the condition of the equipment. I would be happy to use Aurora Star Tech again and highly recommend Ehsan and his company.

We thought we had a gas leak, but Ehsan investigated and determined that there fortunately no gas leak in our case. Instead, we had a thermostat signal issue which he resolved.
