Settings shortcuts: Heat Pump tips

Updated · by Aurora Star Tech Inc.

Short, practical technician tips on settings shortcuts for heat pump. Check each one against the manual for your exact model before acting.

Change the wireless remote custom code (A/B/C/D)

Fujitsu · Fujitsu ductless heat pumps: Fujitsu wall-mounted 7-15 (NA ASU/AOU type); Fujitsu ductless heat pumps: Fujitsu slim duct ARU 7-18 (LL type)

The indoor unit only answers to a remote with the same custom code; the default is A and it returns to A when the batteries are replaced.

  1. Press START/STOP until only the clock shows on the remote.
  2. Hold MODE for 5 seconds or more to show the current code.
  3. Press SET TEMP up or down to cycle A, B, C, D.
  4. Press MODE again to return to the clock and store it.
  5. If no key is pressed within 30 seconds the remote goes back to the clock without a change.

Cap the maximum output (function n4)

Gree · Gree GMV6 Ultra Heat Mini VRF 36-60k (GMV-V..WL/C-T(U))

10 is 100 percent (default), 09 is 90 percent, 08 is 80 percent.

  1. Open the function menu: power the system, then hold SW1 on the master outdoor board for over 5 seconds.
  2. Pick the function with SW1 (up) and SW2 (down), confirm with SW3.
  3. SW4 steps back or exits; with no key pressed for 5 minutes the board leaves the menu by itself.
  4. Select n4, pick 10, 09 or 08 with SW1 and SW2, confirm with SW3.

Limit the whole system to heating, cooling or fan only (function A6)

Gree · Gree GMV6 Ultra Heat Mini VRF 36-60k (GMV-V..WL/C-T(U))

Outdoor-board menu entry: nA cooling and heating (default), nC cooling only, nH heating only, nF fan only.

  4. Select A6, then pick nA, nC, nH or nF with SW1 and SW2 and confirm with SW3 (the value goes steady).

Offset indoor engineering numbers (function n5)

Gree · Gree GMV6 Ultra Heat Mini VRF 36-60k (GMV-V..WL/C-T(U))

Shifts indoor engineering numbers so two systems on one central controller do not clash; use only on the master system (SA2 address 0000x).

  4. Select n5 (00 flashes) and press SW3 on the master system.

Set automatic energy saving (function n0)

Gree · Gree GMV6 Ultra Heat Mini VRF 36-60k (GMV-V..WL/C-T(U))

01 is capability priority (default), 02 is energy-saving priority, which lowers capacity.

  4. Select n0, pick 01 or 02 with SW1 and SW2, confirm with SW3.

Set outdoor silence mode (function A7)

Gree · Gree GMV6 Ultra Heat Mini VRF 36-60k (GMV-V..WL/C-T(U))

Codes 01-09 are smart night-silence modes (need an outdoor timer), 10-13 are forced silence, 00 is off (default). Silence modes lower capacity.

  4. Select A7 (00 flashes), choose 00 to 13 with SW1 and SW2 and confirm with SW3; the number goes steady.

Switch the post-defrost outdoor fan delay off or on

KeepRite · *CA/*CH two-stage communicating heat pump boards

Normally the outdoor fan stays off 20 seconds after defrost ends. Shorting the forced-defrost pins for more than 15 seconds while idle toggles this delay; it is kept through power loss.

  1. With the unit in standby (amber LED on solid), short the FORCED DEFROST pins for more than 15 seconds
  2. The LED starts flashing when toggled: 4 flashes = delay defeated, 3 flashes = 20 s delay active
  3. Remove the short; the code stays up until the short is removed and about 5 seconds after
  4. If you got the wrong state, repeat the toggle

Turn 230 V brown-out protection off or on

KeepRite · *CA/*CH two-stage communicating outdoor boards

Shorting the forced-defrost pins at power-up with the outdoor sensors unplugged flips the brown-out protection setting; it is remembered through power cycles.

  1. Power the unit down
  2. Unplug the OAT and OCT sensor connector and short the two FORCED DEFROST pins
  3. Power up and keep the short on for at least 3 seconds
  4. Amber flashes 6 = protection active, 5 = protection off; repeat once if you land on the wrong state
  5. Power down, plug the sensors back in and remove the short

Switch between defrosting mode 1 and 2

Kinghome · Kinghome KM09HEDI, KM12HEDI, KM18HEDI wall mini-splits

With the unit off, MODE and AUXILIARY together on the remote toggle the defrosting mode; H1 or H2 shows the mode the unit will use after it is switched on.

  1. With the unit off, press MODE and AUXILIARY together on the remote to switch between defrosting mode 1 and 2.
  2. H1 or H2 on the remote shows the mode selected.
